Laura Moore

Dr. Laura Moore is one of Odyssey's favorite instructors. She is Associate Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Music in the College of Arts & Sciences. In August of 2008, Moore started as an Assistant Professor after completing her M.M. and D.M.A. in choral conducting at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro.

Laura has loved and been involved in the world of music since she was 5 years old, when she began piano lessons, and then throughout school, participating in choirs. She was encouraged and inspired by a female musicologist at UNCG who modeled excellent scholarship in a male-dominated field, and by her mother, who successfully balanced an academic career while raising her children.

Laura's community involvement is extensive.  She serves as chorus master for the Mobile Opera, part-time pianist at St. Mark United Methodist Church, and as president of the Schumann Music Club (the oldest music club in Alabama). In her "spare"time between University responsibilities and community service, she enjoys traveling the world.
