Explore your creative potential and learn the essentials of creative writing so you can put them into practice. Whether your goal is to write a novel, short story, or memoir, you want to express yourself through poetry, essays, or journaling, or you just want to improve your general writing skills, this course will help you uncover and hone your creative talent.

Over six weeks, students will learn to plan and complete a creative writing project of their choice by familiarizing themselves with genre descriptions, the writing process, first drafts, critiques, and revisions. They will also get a broad overview of publication opportunities and the submission process.

It’s never too late to become a part of the generous, fulfilling writing community, and this course will get you started on your creative journey!

Ms. Scarbrough highly recommends this book, but it is not required.

Joyce Scarbrough

Joyce Scarbrough is the author of eight novels and numerous short stories featured in multiple anthologies. Joyce completed a course in writing from the Institute of Children’s Literature and is the former senior editor for Champagne Books. She is a past president of the Mobile Writers Guild and is currently serving as its secretary and the editor of the MWG series of annual anthologies. She is also a member of the Southern Breeze chapter of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.

Joyce has lived all her life in Mobile county, she's the mother of three gifted children, and she's been married for over 30 years to a superhero who disguises himself during the day as a high school math teacher and coach.
