In his short, tumultuous life (1809-1849) Edgar Allan Poe invented the Detective Story, and further developed the genres of Science Fiction and Gothic Mystery.  Most of his best stories and poems (“The Raven”) can be enjoyed on many levels through a psychological and biographical analysis of each.  Poe challenges (and sometimes misleads) the reader as to the real motives in stories where a strangely beautiful mystery woman disappears or dies—and often reappears to the delight or horror of the narrator of the tale.  You as the reader and member of an Odyssey class can become the judge and part of the jury to decide where you stand on Poe and his storytelling genius.

Notes:

This is an on-campus class.
Fee: $50.00
