Join us as Scott Corcoran and Meg McCrummen Fowler from The History Museum of Mobile, bring presentations on historical events and cultural icons that shape and define life in Mobile. Topics range from colonial history to culturally identifying experiences such as Mardi Gras, Hurricane Frederic, and SEC football! Meg McCrummen Fowler will bring us "A History of Mobile in 22 Objects."

Scott Corcoran

Scott Corcoran grew up in Mobile and went to Davidson High School. He then received his Bachelor’s in History and Master’s in Education from the University of South Alabama. He is a former History teacher in the Mobile County Public School system. Currently he serves as Assistant Curator of Education at the History Museum of Mobile. In this role he has delivered tours to thousands of area school children, and spoken to numerous community groups on a variety of topics related to Mobile’s history. He lives in Saraland with his wife and three children.

Meg McCrummen-Fowler

Meg McCrummen Fowler is director of the History Museum of Mobile. She holds a BA in history and French from The University of Alabama and an MA in the History of Art from Tulane University, where she is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Art History & Society. Before joining the History Museum of Mobile, Meg served as a visiting scholar in the Center for the Study of War and Memory at the University of South Alabama and taught in the Art & Art History department. In 2018, she completed a curatorial fellowship at the Musée d’Orsay in Paris.

Wayne Sirmon

Wayne Sirmon serves as Adjunct Assistant Professor of History and Honorary Fellow at the University of Mobile. He is a USA graduate, having received his BSEd in Science Education in 1976. He then earned his MAEd in Physical Education in 1981 from UAB. After 16 years as owner of Commercial Printing Company, he returned to USA where he earned an MA in History in 2009. Right after that, he began work at University of Mobile. In 2009 he also completed the US Army Combat Studies Institute - a Military History Instructors' Course. Wayne remains active in his community and church and has served in leadership of many organizations including the War of 1812 Bicentennial Commission, Mobile History Museum, and Alabama Sons of the American Revolution. He is currently in leadership roles in the Mobile Area Veterans Day Commission and in the Mobile Area Civil War Round Table.
