Digital I: An Intro to Photography :
Intimidated by the settings on your camera? No need to be! Learn how to use your camera and take control of your images. This introductory photography class is designed for new users and experienced photographers who want to get more out of their photographs. Topics covered include demystifying shutter speed, aperture, ISO, color balance and their effects on the outcome of the image. Exposure, composition, choosing the best resolution and file formats are also covered. Your class will cover what to do after images are taken and discuss selecting the right flash and lens. Sessions include large and small group instruction as well as individualized assistance. By the end of the course you will know how to use the various functions and modes on your particular camera. For insight into the world of photography the class will visit a professional studio for a photo-shoot with models.

Image Management and Editing:
In the new age of digital photography, we tend to accumulate more photographs than we did with film. Discover how to organize photo files, edit your photos, create slide shows, web galleries, and prints using the software program Adobe Lightroom.

In this course you will learn to use the software to create work flow to organize your photos into catalogs and collections, enhance the images through editing, noise reduction, sharpening, adding vignettes and then share your work through printing, online sharing, or exporting.

You will need access to Lightroom software for this course. Adobe currently only offers Lightroom and other similar Adobe products as a subscription service. Although you can no longer purchase Lightroom and own it forever, if you already have Adobe Lightroom Version 6 installed on your computer it will also work for this course. We recommend testing your software before the first class to insure an optimum learning experience.

Digital I: Introduction to Photography will be held on campus. Image Management & Editing is offered via Zoom. Students may use their PC or laptops. Please have Lightroom software downloaded. At least 80% attendance is required in order to count toward the Photography Certificate.
