He received a B.A. in English Literature from the University of the South (Sewanne) and a Master of Divinity degree from the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, Texas. He is married to Katherine Bryson and they have three grown children and three grandchildren. His hobbies include reading and cooking.
